On the Move: What's going on in Leiden?
On December 18th The exhibition Heritage on the Move was festively opened at the City Hall of Leiden by Henri Lenferink, the Mayor of Leiden during the Leiden expat event ‘On the Move: What’s going on in Leiden?’
Henri Lenferink mentioned how important it is for Leiden to work together with the University and other academic and cultural institutes, to broaden horizons and to stimulate international relations.
After the opening by the Mayor, Corine van der Ceelen, manager of the Expat Centre Leiden (ECL) gave an introduction speech on ECL. She liked the exhibition ‘The exposition shows in a beautiful way how people move and bring along their customs and habits. This relates closely to our work area and is also why we enjoy watching this exhibition’.
Manager of LeidenGlobal, Aphroditi Zoulfoukaridis, thereafter gave an introduction to the activities of LeidenGlobal: “The City of Leiden, with its cultural and academic institutions, offers broad expertise, collections and specialists on cultures around the world. These institutions organise events such as lectures, workshops, symposia and exhibitions, often in English.”
After the official element the glasses were raised to toast on a good ending of 2017 and a wonderful start of 2018 with even more interesting events, projects and activities that make Leiden Global!
The exhibition was thereafter on display for 4 weeks at the City Hall of Leiden, where a lot of people could learn more about the change of cultural heritage through migration.
