Last month Isa Lefering joined the LeidenGlobal team as project assistant. Until april Isa will assist with graduate courses, events, exhibitions, and online communication. Get to know Isa as she introduces herself:
Hello everyone! My name is Isa Lefering and I am excited to introduce myself to all partners and readers of LeidenGlobal. I started working for LeidenGlobal in December 2023 as a project assistant, and you might have already seen some of my work on Instagram and the website.
Right now, I am a 24-year-old student pursuing a master’s degree in Intercultural Communication at Utrecht University. Before this, I completed my bachelor's in Korean Studies at Leiden University and also had the opportunity to study abroad in Seoul, South Korea for six months. I grew up in Doetinchem, Gelderland, and moved to Leiden to start my bachelor's degree. However, I have come to love this city so much that I have decided to continue living here during my master's program. In my free time, I enjoy working out at the boxing club of which I am a member, and I also like to relax with my friends.
During my bachelor years, my interest in various cultures, especially those of East Asia, started growing. I started my master's in intercultural communication, as I want to become part of the bridge between various cultures and the people in the Netherlands. There can be misunderstandings because of different cultures and languages, and in the current global world, I believe we need to know more about cultures that are so different from our own.
Working with LeidenGlobal allows me to share these cultures with a variety of people, and I am very happy to be a part of something that makes the knowledge available to everyone interested.
