Every 5 to 6 months LeidenGlobal has a new intern. The interns are indispensable for the LeidenGlobal office. On February 1st new intern Ilse Zwart will start her internship at LeidenGlobal, besides her BA Studies in Anthropology at Leiden University.
Introducing Ilse
Hi everyone,
I’m Ilse and I’ll be starting as the new intern at LeidenGlobal on February 1st. I’m currently in the last year of my bachelor Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology at Leiden University. I have always been really interested in culture, diversity and intersectionality, which makes Anthropology the perfect study for me. What I love most about it is how it is teaching us to always be very critical of assumptions and things we think are normal, and I always appreciate the perspectives of international students and professors in class.
I love being involved with my study association Itiwana, where I am a member of several committees. Last year, me and a few others organised a trip to Morocco for people in our studies, which was very difficult, but so rewarding!
I’m also very passionate about my job as social media student assistant for Leiden University. Besides that, I just spent a semester abroad in Canada as part of my studies, which was so exciting. I loved studying in a country so far away from home.
I love LeidenGlobal’s mission to connect disciplines, organisations and citizens through the sharing of academic knowledge. I’d love to learn more about how organisations such as LeidenGlobal work and seeing how I can use what I’ve learned during my studies in practice. This makes me very excited to start my internship and be part of the team!
